They fought and clawed their way back to even the score numerous times throughout the afternoon, but the KW Titans didn’t have it that one last time – missing the buzzer beater to win – and lost 119-117 to the London Lightning at the Auditorium in Kitchener.
Isiah Umipig’s shot at the end, below, went wide and the Lightning extend their league-leading record to 31 wins and five losses with a couple weeks of regular season games to go.
Titans forward Flenard Whitfield once again paced his team with 28 points and brought in nine rebounds for the second game in a row in the losing effort.
Coming off a stellar week after earning National Basketball League of Canada Central Division player of the week honours, Kitchener-Waterloo Titans forward Flenard Whitfield dominated the court last night in a 92-90 win against the visiting Saint John Riptide.
Whitfield led his squad with 21 points and nine rebounds, eight of those coming off the defensive end.
Also contributing on offense was guard Isiah Umipig, below, who shot 50 per cent from the field for 16 points and added four assists on the night.
A.J. Davis, below, played less minutes on the floor but managed six rebounds to help his squad defensively.
