Wonder Woman!

The 159th running of the Queen’s Plate Saturday saw Telekinesis move itself ahead of the pack as they passed by the Woodbine Racetrack crowd for the first time in the $1,000,000 first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.

But it was a filly – the second one in as many years – who powered down the stretch to take the top prize of the day.

Wonder Gadot, ridden by John Valazquez and named after Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot, proved she was the true superhero today crossing the line in 2:02.26 four and three-quarters lengths ahead of Aheadbyacentury.

This is the second Queen’s Plate win – and second filly win after Lexie Lou’s 2014 victory – for trainer Mark Casse who spoke to media after the race, below.

And it was the first win in the big Canadian race for two-time Kentucky Derby winning American jockey John Velazquez, who takes another honour in his long list of accomplishments and races won to date.
