Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson‘s game high 24 points for the visiting Orangeville A’s was not enough to get the win against the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans last night in National Basketball League of Canada action at the Memorial Auditorium.
The Titans squad was able to spread out the scoring to get five players in double digits on the night and won 96-89, with George Blakeney hitting for 19 points, albeit getting 14 of those from the foul line.
Paul Cooper, above and below, worked a double-double effort into the win, scoring 12 and taking in 10 rebounds for his Titans team.
A familiar face returns to the ranks of the NBL of Canada with KW’s signing of Flenard Whitfield, below.
Whitfield, a 6’7″ forward who played with the Brampton/Orangeville A’s for three years, returns from a year playing Icelandic Dominos League basketball for Skallagrimur. Whitfield averaged 28.7 points and 15.2 rebounds per game.
Kitchener-Waterloo’s win brings them one win away from .500 basketball with another home game to be played against the Niagara River Lions today at 2pm.
