A perfect Friday afternoon of thoroughbred horse racing at Woodbine Racetrack started off with a pre-race walk through the willows out front of the big Toronto racing facility.
And it was a perfect start for jockey Emma Jayne Wilson who rode Egyptian Star to a win in Race 1 despite having to walk to the steward’s office, as fellow jockey David Moran waits outside, below, after Moran claimed a foul on Wilson as the two riders raced to the finish down the stretch.
Moran’s foul claim was denied and he had to wait until the seventh race of the day before he picked up a win riding Inperson.
Luis Contreras, below, gets a fist bump after he picked up his first of two victories in Race 2 aboard Starship Sabrina.
In Race 3, Jeffrey Alderson rode his Italian Beauty ahead of the pack, below, on both the Tapeta track surface and the big video screen on the infield…
…then celebrates with a look skyward prior to having his photo taken in the winner’s circle by track photographer Michael Burns.
And in the fourth start of the day, it was Jesse M. Campbell who thundered down the turf track, below, out of the number 12 slot in a 13-entry race to pick up a big win aboard Big Yum…
…despite having a set of protective goggles slip down below his nose, below.
