Kevin Elliott seems like a ‘thumbs up’ kind of guy.
So when Elliott, 27, was released October 3 by the Toronto Argonauts – along with three other receivers in what appeared to be an ‘attitude adjustment’ to the Argos roster – it was a bit of a surprise.
Elliott, though, has landed on his feet by signing on with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
It was only a matter of time before he found new digs to play in.
There’s no telling exactly what transpired behind closed doors to make Toronto coach Scott Milanovich and GM Jim Barker do some house cleaning so late in the season, but a 5-win, 10 loss record so far this season may have lead to frustrations for players and coaching/head office staff alike.
Elliott has played only eight games this season for the Double Blue and has 23 receptions for 294 yards and two touchdowns. In the last two years, he has 73 receptions for 936 yards and 10 touchdowns.
With former Toronto teammate Chad Owens on the Hamilton injured list and Luke Tasker not quite ready for gameplay, Elliott could see action Friday against the Redblacks at Tim Hortons Field.
One thing for sure, though, is you’ll find a smile on this young man’s face all the time.
“It’s all for the better and I’m loving every minute of it,” said Elliott.
