Let’s Hear It For The Girl

It’s not often a racehorse can make grown men shed tears of joy.

But that is the effect five-year-old filly Lexie Lou had on at least some of the crowd at Woodbine Racetrack Sunday during the Grade II Dance Smartly Stakes.

“Sweet Lou” returned to the big Toronto track on Queen’s Plate day – a place where she conquered all the boys in 2014 to win the prestigious first jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown – and took her second stakes win of the year with Patrick Husbands up.

Husbands also rode Lexie Lou, the 2014 Canadian Horse of the Year winner, back in late May to take the $200,000 Nassau Stakes, also at Woodbine.
