If Paul Kimaiyo Kimugul decides to enter any more Around The Bay Road Races in the future, the only surprising part of those races will be who will come in second place.
Kimugul won his third consecutive 30k race at the Hamilton, Ontario, event in a time of 1:35:16.
The 36-year-old Kenyan dominated the race, which has been run since 1894, under blue skies and freezing temperatures.
Amos Nganga, left, and Dancan Kasia surround Kimugul for a selfie following the race which ends inside the First Ontario Centre arena.
Prior to the start of the 30k event, participants look for a place inside the arena to drop their non-racing attire or collect their thoughts…
…to make sure they are sufficiently stretched…
…or to show others the future in aerodynamic running-wear, below.
Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne addresses the crowd prior to the 5k walk/run event which following the premier 30k run.
Wynne ran in the 5k event, as well, and finished in a time of 28 minutes and 45 seconds.
Probably the most impressive part of the 5k event is the increasing number of firefighters who run the event in full firefighting gear – helmet, masks, and air tanks!
