He’ll keep his Number 2 jersey for this upcoming CFL football season, but Chad Owens’ Oxford and Cambridge blues will now become Black and Gold as the one-time CFL Most Outstanding Player and Grey Cup champion has signed a one-year deal to play for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
If he remains healthy, which is a reasonable concern considering both his age (34 at the start of the season) and the games he has missed in the past few years with the Argos, Owens will certainly provide Hamilton with experience and playmaking ability on the field.
Also on the move from Toronto is quarterback Trevor Harris, who filled in admirably when starter Ricky Ray was off the field for shoulder surgery last year.
Harris, along with Brendan Gillanders, below, have signed with the Ottawa Redblacks.
Gillanders, from Orleans, Ontario, will be heading back home to play in Ottawa where he spent his CIS football years playing for the Ottawa Gee-Gees.
