Like Riding A Bike

The Toronto Argonauts know that a preseason loss at the beginning of a new year can be a lot like learning to ride a bike: If you fall off, you have to get right back up on the seat and try again.
And, following Tuesday’s loss against Winnipeg at Varsity Stadium, that’s what the Boatmen, and linebacker James Yurichuk in the photos above and below, did on Friday in preparation for next Thursday’s game in Montreal against the Alouettes.
The Argos managed to get a full practice in on Friday without getting rained on at their York University training camp facility. Running back Curtis Steele, below, runs through drills and kicks up a bit of water with a little encouragement from head coach Scott Milanovich in the background.
With off-season shoulder surgery sidelining Toronto’s top QB Ricky Ray, the Argos have brought in a receiver with plenty of football experience, despite being a rookie in the Canadian game, to bolster the receiving corps for current signal callers Trevor Harris and Mitchell Gale.
Tori Gurley, below right talking with fellow receiver Kashif Moore, is a 27-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama, who has split his time in the NFL over the last four years between full roster status and practice squad team with eight different clubs.
Despite having a lot to learn about the CFL game, Gurley managed to haul in a 72-yard TD catch in the fourth quarter in the 34-27 loss to Winnipeg on Tuesday.

On the defensive side, assistant linebackers coach D.J. Wingate shows players the play call, below…
…and then expresses plenty of exuberance as one of his players makes a big defensive play, below.
