Took my son Dee over to Flamboro Speedway in Millgrove, Ontario, to check out the Saturday night racing on the 1/3-mile semi-banked asphalt oval. First thing to do was get something to eat.
Getting into the pit area is pretty cool as you can get up close to the race cars and the drivers are always friendly and accessible. Below, Late Model series racer Shawn McGlynn is all smiles as he gets ready for time trials in preparation of the 100-lap Meineke Car Care sponsored Late Model division race.
McGlynn and his car are also sponsored by Meineke and he gives Jackson and Jenna Case a chance to check out his helmet as Raechel Roberts looks on, below.
Driver Terry Baker gets his ear buds ready before heading out for early practice, below.
Another driver with a big grin on his face while sitting in his car is 18-year-old Justin Collison from Preston, Ontario. A few years ago, NASCAR legend Kenny Schrader drove Collison’s ThunderCar around Flamboro during the track’s 50th Anniversary weekend in 2012.
Not sure how he got the ‘Snowflake’ nickname but his girlfriend Danielle Plantz doesn’t seem to mind as she gives him a good luck kiss before heading to the track.
He may be young but Trevor Collver, below, is already a racing veteran having started his career at the age of 10 driving Micro Sprints at Grand Bend Speedway.
