Happy Birthday Cristalino

Three days short of her third birthday, Cristalino broke loose from the gates from the outside and never looked back for a first place finish in the second race of Woodbine’s Saturday card.

Ridden masterfully by Luis Contreras, shown below urging his mount down the stretch with kissing sounds, the Robert P. Tiller-trained dark bay filly was listed at 9/5-1 and brought $5.60 for the win.

Jockey Sheena Ryan, below, was smiling coming off the track after riding Evangelos ahead of the pack for the first half of Race One’s seven furlongs…

…before fading and allowing fellow Jockey David Moran to take September Square, 3, for the win, below.

Ryan would be smiling again after Race 10 after taking Love Hammer to a win.

Jockeys Jesse M. Campbell, below left, and Cesar O. Mejia both return after race one, below.

    • Those are the toughest to get because the camera is sitting on the ground. First, you have to prefocus on a spot, then you have to hope you get them in a good position because you’re not looking through the lens. This shot could have been better: I had to crop a lot of the sky out cuz I fired too soon and the camera was angled up to far.
But hey, apart from the analysis- thank you!! πŸ™‚
