Misery Loves Company

Ringing in the New Year Tuesday night in bitterly cold downtown Brampton was Canadian rock foursome The Trews.

Below, vocalist Colin MacDonald’s breath condenses into the air as he belts out hit after hit from the band’s four studio albums.

With the cancellation of fireworks and the closing of Gage Park due to debris following the December 21-22 Ice Storm, this year’s festivities were rather subdued with the number of revelers greatly reduced.

That didn’t stop guitarist John-Angus MacDonald and his toque from giving it his all in front of the receptive crowd.

The Trews, who also include drummer Sean Dalton and bassist Jack Syperek, won Rock Recording of the Year for their album Hope & Ruin at the 2012 East Coast Music Awards.
