Big Red’s Boy

Almost 40 years to the day that the amazing chestnut stallion Secretariat ran in the Canadian International Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack – a 612 lengths win in his last race on October 28, 1973 – the Triple Crown-winning horse’s son visited the big Toronto track for this year’s version of the annual race.

It was like a visit from a royal relative, as Big Red’s boy, Time Alert, a 24-year-old gelding was walked around Woodbine’s parade ring. And it was the son of another famous horse racing personality that walked him around for the fans on Sunday. John LeBlanc Jr. was on hand, son of famous Canadian jockey John B. LeBlanc, who coincidentally rode Secretariat’s entry mate Angle Light in the 1973 Kentucky Derby.
