Keep Calm and….

Iconic wartime recruitment or propaganda posters know no boundaries. Canadian posters like this one, American classics like Uncle Sam and especially Chinese art featuring a young Mao abound.

The British government, however, in their ‘stiff-upper-lip’ understated style came up with the “Keep Calm” classic; a poster with a solid background and large white text and crown encouraging their people to “Carry On”. Millions of posters were produced by the Ministry of Information at the beginning of the Second World War, but distribution was limited and the posters were, apparently, not displayed publicly at all.

Only a handful of originals exist today despite the original numbers.

And now, unveiled here for the first time, are some versions of the original previously unseen by the public.
