It’s usually never a bad idea to go to the beach. The kids love it.
But with temperatures in the mid-thirties Celsius and no sign of cloud cover, being on the scalding sand of Woodbine Beach in Toronto’s Beaches area wasn’t the best place to be … or to play volleyball.
That didn’t stop several hundred recreational players from spiking and digging on the weekend.
The sand was so hot, footwear was required by almost all players and I found myself digging in deep just to be able to kneel down to take some photos.
And the combination of extreme heat, sweat and sand resulted in quite a number of muscle cramps and sand adhering to most body parts….
